Conrad Schwiering

Conrad Schwiering, born in Boulder, Colorado was raised in Laramie, Wyoming. He first fell in love with the Teton Range while on a trip with his father. It left a lasting impression on the young Schwiering. Conrad Schwiering moved to Jackson in 1947 with his wife Mary Ethel.

In 1981 Schwiering was recognized by the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Museum with a one man exhibition of 38 of his paintings and was awarded the Trustees Gold Medal for his outstanding contributions to Western art. He was a charter member of the National Academy of Western Art and is best known for his achievements as a landscape artist and lived until January of 1986.
